I don't believe that. What women punish men for is giving up on themselves, their values, their boundaries, and their balls. Check out the book "What Women Want When They Test Men."

Women will continuously test a man to see where his weak points are because she has an instinctual need to feel safe. When a man makes a woman feel safe she honors and respects him, and he does so by standing up for himself while staying attuned to his wife's needs.
